Ancestors Are Interesting -- for My Grandchildren

Genevieve W. Westlake

Hello. My name is Betty Graff, and Genevieve (known as "Cobby") was my grandmother. This effort is dedicated to her. Genevieve was born in the late 1880's. Her mother, Evangeline Lott, was born in the Isle of Man and emigrated from England before marrying George Westlake. Genevieve got married to Levi H. Satterlee on New Year's Eve 1913 in Little Falls, Minnesota. They moved to California with Bob and Jean sometime in the mid-twenties and eventually settled in Sunland. Their third child, Richard, was born in California. Before Genevieve married she worked in the telephone office (below left) to support her family after her father left. It was was both hard and one of the highlights of her life. The picture below right was taken at about that time and shows her mother, Eva, in back, right, her two brothers and her future sister-in-law.
