Grandpa Bill Goes to Modena, Utah (1919 or 20)

Modena was one of the first stations of the U.S. Weather Bureau in the Western United States. Dad got the job, but hated being away from Southern California. So he didn't stay long. I have seen recent pictures of Modena, and it looks pretty much the same now!

Grandpa Bill (William J. Lewis), 1909-2005, was a physicist and noted meteorologist who worked for the Ames Research Lab and for NASA doing much or the original research that led to de-icing systems. He figured it all out on his slide rule!
